Sculpting Stories

Stories on a String, Charm by Charm

Ages 8-18

Some stories are written with words; others begin in the palm of your hand. Students tell a story one tiny sculpture at a time, creating a collection of polymer-clay charms that represent its characters, settings, emotions, and transformative moments. Like a personal string of hieroglyphs, each handmade bead becomes a symbol or chapter before being strung together as a bracelet, necklace, or miniature sculptural narrative. Along the way, students explore symbolism, sequencing, color, texture, character development, and the ways objects can carry memory and meaning. Their finished jewelry becomes both a wearable work of art and a story that can be shared, remembered, and carried close.
